Cell culture adaptation of astrovirus involves a deletion
Posted in Microbiology on 07/04/2005 09:13 am by M. M. WillcocksAstroviruses have been adapted to culture by serial blind passage in primary human embryo cells. All viruses thus adapted possess a 45-nucleotide deletion relative to fecal viruses or isolates made in CaCo-2 cells; this deletion may be responsible for the change in host cell range.
